Who We Are

DuckNData is a site dedicated to all things tech and data, managed by a team of techy rats with a nose for innovation. Our official rat’s nest is located at www.duckndata.com.

Comments

When visitors squeak their thoughts in the comment sections, we collect the details provided in the form—like your name, email, and any nibbles of wisdom shared. We also store your IP address and browser info to help identify any spammy behavior that may be lurking in the dark corners. An anonymized cheese crumb (a “hash”) from your email may be sent to Gravatar to check if you’re a familiar face. Gravatar’s privacy policy can be sniffed out here. Once approved, your profile picture (if available) will appear alongside your comment, so all the other rats can recognize you!

Media

If you upload images to our nest, make sure they’re stripped of any location data you might not want to share. Other visitors can easily extract such data from uploaded images, and we don’t want any wayward rats showing up at your doorstep uninvited!

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies, which we’ll tuck away for you to make future visits more convenient. These cookies last for a whole year, plenty of time to gather more morsels of data.

When you log in, several additional cookies will be set to save your login information and screen settings. The login cookies last two days (or two weeks if you click “Remember Me”), and screen options cookies last a whole year. If you log out, the login cookies scurry away too. If you edit or publish an article, a cookie saves the post ID of the article and expires after one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content from other domains (like videos, images, and articles from the wide world beyond our burrow). Embedded content behaves just as it would if you had visited the original site directly—so other sites may track you as you interact with that content. We suggest sniffing around their policies if you have any privacy concerns.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be attached to the email we send, allowing us to confirm you’re the same rat that requested it.

How Long We Keep Your Data

If you leave a comment, it and its metadata will be saved indefinitely so that any follow-up comments are automatically recognized. For users who register on our site, personal details from their profiles are stored securely, and users can view, edit, or delete these details (aside from their usernames).

Your Data Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an export of the personal data we hold about you. You may also request that we delete any personal data, though some may need to remain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data is Sent

Comments may be sent through automated spam detection services to ensure no unwelcome critters infiltrate the site. This helps us keep the space safe and spam-free for all our fellow data-loving rats!
